Fishing, A Way of Life
-- the good, the bad, and the ugly --

Matthew 4:19-20
And he saith unto them, Follow me,
 and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

The beauty of God's creation is evident!

A fisherman enjoys the view.

Proverbs 1:5
A wise man will hear, and will increase
 learning; and a man of understanding
 shall attain unto wise counsels.

Sometimes the catch is good...

Proverbs 2:5
Then shalt thou understand the
fear of the LORD, and find the
knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:6
or the LORD giveth wisdom:
out of his mouth cometh
knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 3:15
She is more precious than rubies: and all
the things thou canst desire are not
to be compared unto her.

John 21:6
And he said unto them, Cast the net on
the right side of the ship, and ye shall find.
They cast therefore, and now they were not
able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich,
and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Better is little with the fear of the LORD
than great treasure and trouble therewith.

The fear of the LORD is the instruction
of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

He that keepeth the commandment

Behold, the LORD will carry thee
 away with a mighty captivity,
and will surely cover thee.

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and
thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

and sometimes the catch
 is not too good...

John 21:3
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing.
They say unto him, We also go with thee.
They went forth, and entered into a ship
 immediately; and that night
they caught nothing.

Proverbs 19:1
Better is the poor that walketh in his
integrity, than he that is perverse
in his lips, and is a fool.

Sometimes a fisherman has to
find other things to catch...

Proverbs 3:7
Be not wise in thine own eyes:
fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

He becometh poor that dealeth with
a slack hand: but the hand of
the diligent maketh rich.

Time to look for the shrimp again;
call some friends to help
find the school!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;

Proverbs 19:17

Psalms 112:3
ealth and riches shall be in his house:

Fishermen aren't the only ones
 that look for shrimp to eat.
Dolphins, and birds of many types, follow the boats looking for a meal.

Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turneth away wrath:
but grievous words stir up anger.

and knowledge rather than choice gold.

The eyes of the LORD are in every place,
 beholding the evil and the good.

Drop the anchor
