CHRIST The Only Way

LOOKING FOR THE MESSIAH

In the beginning, God told the serpent in the garden of Eden that he would put an "enmity" between Satan and the woman. This "enmity" would be none other than Jesus Christ was to die on the cross for all of mankind’s sins and to destroy Satan and all of his evil forces.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

As time went by, man was required to sacrifice an animal and to shed its blood to show repentance from sin. This was in looking forward to the last sacrifice that would be made by Jesus, allowing his own blood to be shed as a last sacrifice for sin that the world would ever need. Many prophets told about this happening as they were inspired by God to foretell it.

2 Titus 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. V.21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

As the prophecies came to the holy men of God, they spoke of Jesus being foretold to his mother Mary and of his life all the way to his death on the cross. These prophecies spanned 34-1/2 years on earth, from conception to ascension. The prophecies also told of Jesus returning as "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords" after his resurrection. The old testament prophets were not shown the age of the church that has lasted now 2,000 years since Jesus left the earth. This confused many of the Jews that were looking for a victorious Messiah or conquering King, not a suffering Messiah. They read scriptures like this one and were sure Jesus was going to rid them of all of their oppressors.

Zechariah 6:12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD. V.13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

When Jesus came into Jerusalem on a new colt, the people said, This is the arrival of our king. They laid palm branches in his path as a sign of respect and worship to the king. When Jesus began speaking to the crowds and speaking of the meek inheriting the earth and that the Son of Man must suffer and die, the crowds soon turned away from Jesus as the king that was going to liberate them. The religious leaders began plotting his death. Few realized this was the "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords" they were speaking against.

God had inspired the scriptures with many prophecies of how Jesus would be the suffering Messiah before he would be crowned King.

Psalm 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. V.7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, V.8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

Psalm 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. V.15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. V.16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. V.17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. V.18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

A couple of people were able to look at the scriptures and understand the meaning of the prophecies as was told by God.

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. V.25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. V.26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself.

By reading the scriptures and knowing the times, some were waiting just as the scriptures foretold.

Luke 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

Luke 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. V.26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. V.27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law. V.28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, V.29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: V.30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.

Luke 2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; V.37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. V.38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

Just as the people of old were looking for Messiah to come and missed him because they didn’t take time to read all of God’s Word, we have people today that are making the same mistake. We are still looking for the Messiah to return as King of Kings now because we know he already was the suffering Messiah. Jesus, while here on earth, spoke of himself as being the bridegroom. He said he was going to his Father’s house to prepare a place for us, "the bride." The place he was going to prepare would be the marriage chamber, or also called the "chupah." This chamber was to be in his Father’s house.

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. V.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. V.4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

The only way to get to that mansion, or bridal chamber, prepared for us by Jesus Christ is through Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Once you accept the free gift of salvation in your life, you become a new creature in Christ Jesus. Your life will change and the cares of this world will not seem as important anymore as it did before you made your choice to follow Christ. You will now be part of the Bride of Christ that will inhabit the New Jerusalem. As the Bride of Christ, you will rule and reign in the millennial period with Christ.

When Jesus returns to earth to end Satan’s rule and reign himself on the earth as King of Kings, He will be coming from the wedding of the Church to himself. We will have spent 7 years in heaven with the Lord, in the place that Jesus went to prepare for the wedding.

Luke 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh they may open unto him immediately.

Jesus said, I will receive you unto myself. Paul said we will meet him in the air.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

Considering the Bride of Christ must pass through the air that Satan’s masses of angels are, it is a good idea for Jesus to meet us in the air. He will escort his bride, the Church, to his marriage chamber.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

"I go to prepare a place for you."

David speaks of this chamber in a Psalm.

Psalm 18:19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. The crowns for rewards are given out in this place. V.20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

After the marriage in heaven, we see the door to the chupah open up, and John is invited up to heaven to get a glimpse of the future when the Bride comes out of the marriage chamber and stands before the throne of God the Father. We know the rewards have been handed out in the chupah because the 24 elders sitting around the throne have their crowns of life on their heads. These crowns were given out at the Bema seat judgment by Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.

The phrase "after this" and "hereafter" are speaking of the churches in the first three chapters of Revelation. They are describing the time periods that God dealt with man on earth. After the church age is finished, with the rapture of the church, we see the beginning of the tribulation period described in God’s Word. This period lasts for seven years and is for God to deal with the nation of Israel because they have never accepted Jesus as the Messiah. It is called the time of Jacob’s trouble.

Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

Israel will experience extreme affliction during the tribulation period, but they will survive the ordeal as a nation. They will turn to Jesus in the middle of the period and the antichrist will pursue them, but God will protect them. And when Jesus comes back to earth with his saints, he will embrace them. From then on, there will be heaven on earth with our Lord reigning over us in person.

Zechariah 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. V.2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. V.3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. V.4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. V.5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. V.6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: V.7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. V.8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. V.9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

When Jesus comes back to end Satan’s rule, he battles with antichrist forces, kills millions in the valley of Armageddon, splits the Mount of Olives in two and water pours out. Other verses speak of him walking through the east gate of the temple that has been blocked up with stones for hundreds of years in anticipation of his coming. Many other things are done in this period of time, and Jesus reigns for 1,000 years. Then the Great White Throne Judgment by God takes place, and Satan and all his followers are thrown into the lake of fire.

Just as the first coming of Jesus was mistaken as a king coming in power and glory but was actually a suffering Messiah, even with all of the descriptions in God’s Word, the people missed it and were dismayed and confused.

The second coming of the Messiah will be preceded by the rapture and the wedding, and then Jesus will come in his glory to the earth for his triumphant return so long awaited. He will come back with his Bride and the armies of heaven.

The time period between the Rapture and the return of Jesus is nearly 7 years. There is a timetable in the book of Psalms, and it describes the years and why. The book "Tell it to the Generation Following" explains chapter by chapter the timetable and the reasons behind it. This book can be purchased by contacting me at renobelievestoo@aol.com.
